BAKER TO VEGAS

2015

For almost three decades, the officers of the Beverly Hills Police Department have sent runners to participate in the Challenge Cup/Baker-to-Vegas Relay. Each year, this grueling road race attracts law enforcement personnel from all over the U.S. and around the world.

Once again this year, the BHPD Relay Team has honored the Vahagn Setian Charitable Foundation by running in our name. As always, our shared purpose is to raise awareness among young people and adults of the dangers of impaired or distracted driving. This effort continues to memorialize Vahagn himself, a 17-year-old Beverly High student, who lost his life in December 2006 through someone else’s thoughtless, criminal act of drunken and drugged driving.

That tragedy adds urgency to the Foundation’s mission of impressing upon teenagers the potentially fatal results of impaired driving, and the importance of making intelligent personal choices, since our actions affect others as well as ourselves. The BHPD Relay Team is generously continuing their support of the scholarship the VSCF awards each year to the Beverly High student who best exemplifies the values of wise and mature decision making.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and is also classified as a public charity 509(a)(1), which makes the contributions tax-deductible. The Foundation’s Federal Tax ID is # 20-8057062.
